Getting customer reviews is essential for building trust and visibility online. My Local Ads makes it simple to collect reviews through multiple channels — SMS, Email, WhatsApp, and even QR Codes — so you can connect with your customers however they prefer.

Follow this step-by-step guide to send review requests and set up automated follow-ups.

Step 1: Go to the Reputation Dashboard

From your left-side menu, select Reputation.
You’ll land on the Overview tab, where you can see a summary of recent reviews, sentiment analysis, and AI-generated summaries of customer feedback.

Tip: The “AI Summary” card highlights what customers appreciate most about your business — a quick insight into your brand reputation.

Step 2: Open the “Requests” Tab

Click the Requests tab at the top of the Reputation dashboard.
Here, you’ll find a list of review requests that have been sent to customers, including details such as:

  • Invite Sent To (customer name or email)

  • Sent By (team member who sent it)

  • Sent Via (email, phone, or SMS)

  • Status (opened, failed, etc.)

  • Retries and Date Sent

You can track whether a customer has opened the message or if the request failed to send.

To send a new review request, click the “Send Review Request” button in the top right corner.

Step 3: Set Up Review Request Methods

Go to Settings at the top and you’ll find several options under the left sidebar.
This is where you decide how you want to collect reviews.

Here you’ll see several configuration options:

Review Link

You can:

  • Connect your Google or Facebook review pages.

  • Or add a custom review link (for example, your business’s review landing page).

If your Google or Facebook profiles aren’t connected yet, click the corresponding option and follow the prompts to link your accounts.

This ensures all review requests direct customers to the correct platform.

SMS Review Requests

Select SMS Requests from the left sidebar.
You can choose when the system should send SMS requests — for example, Immediately after a job is completed or after a set number of days.

You can also customize:

  • Repeat frequency (how often to resend until a review is left)

  • Maximum retries (how many reminders to send)

Below, you can edit or create SMS Templates.
A default message may look like this:

“Hi, this is {{location.name}}. We appreciate your business!
Would you mind rating us on Google? It helps us a ton if your review describes the service you received and why you’d recommend us.

Thank you and best wishes from the {{location.name}} team!
Txt STOP to opt-out.
{{reputation.review_link}}”

You can modify this template to match your brand tone or service type.

Email Review Requests

If you prefer email follow-ups:

  1. Go to Email Requests (under the same Settings tab).

  2. Choose when to send the email (immediately, after a few days, etc.).

  3. Set the retry frequency and limits.

  4. Click Create New to build your own email template or use Set Email Templates to edit existing ones.

This allows you to send branded, personalized review invites directly from your business email.

WhatsApp Review Requests

You can also reach customers through WhatsApp — a great option for local businesses that prefer instant, conversational communication.

  1. Click WhatsApp Requests.

  2. Press Connect WhatsApp to link your account.

Once connected, you can send review requests right through WhatsApp, making it easy for customers to leave feedback in just a few taps.

QR Code Review Requests

Want to collect reviews in person?
You can generate a scannable QR code that directs customers to your review page.

  1. Select Reviews QR from the left sidebar.

  2. Click Create QR Code or + New.

  3. Your customers can scan it with their phones to instantly leave a review.

You can print this QR code on:

  • Receipts

  • Flyers

  • Business cards

  • Job completion documents

This method is perfect for on-site or service-based businesses.

Step 4: How to Change the Review Link

If your current review request directs customers to your website instead of your desired destination, you can fix that in two simple ways:

Option 1: Update It in “Review Link” Settings

  1. Go to Settings → Review Link (under Reputation).

  2. You’ll see three options:

    • Get Reviews on Google

    • Get Reviews on Facebook

    • Custom Link

  3. Click the Google option and connect your Google Business Profile.

    • Once connected, all future review requests (via SMS, Email, or WhatsApp) will send customers straight to your Google Review page.

If you prefer to add your own link manually:

  • Select Custom Link and paste your direct Google Review URL (it usually looks like this):

    https://g.page/r/YourBusinessName/review
  • Click Save.

Option 2: Edit the Link Inside Your SMS or Email Template

If you prefer more flexibility, you can manually edit the message templates to include your custom Review link.

  • For SMS, go to Settings → SMS Requests → Edit Template

  • For Email, go to Settings → Email Requests → Edit Template

Simply replace {{reputation.review_link}} with your Review URL — this will override the default link that points to your website.

Step 5: Track Performance

Back under the Requests tab, you can monitor:

  • Who received your review requests

  • Which ones were opened or failed

  • How many total reviews you’ve collected

Over time, you’ll also see metrics like:

  • Sentiment trends (positive vs. negative)

  • Total reviews received in the last 6 months

  • AI-generated insights summarizing customer feedback

Step 6: Automate and Optimize

You can toggle Review Balancing to distribute requests across multiple platforms (e.g., Google and Facebook) for even visibility.

Pro Tip: Combine multiple methods — for example, send an SMS first, and if no response after a few days, follow up with an email.
This multi-channel approach ensures a higher response rate.

Summary

My Local Ads’ Reputation Management system gives you complete control over how you collect customer feedback.
Whether through SMS, email, WhatsApp, or QR codes — you can automate review requests, track responses, and strengthen your online reputation with ease.
